Photo: Student on highwire in leadership activityThink about the following questions to assess what you have learned from being involved. The answers to these questions can form the basis for your resume, your statement of purpose, or your preparation for a job interview.

  • Reflect on your pre-involvement experience. In what ways have you changed as a result of your involvement?
  • Have you had the opportunity to translate classroom learning to real world settings (e.g., internships, job experiences, program planning, organizational involvement, service learning)?
  • Are you able to identify your values, interests, and skills as it relates to your career? How have your leadership skills been enhanced through your experiences?
  • Can you identify your leadership style, strengths, and weaknesses?
  • Can you identify opportunities that you have had to utilize your leadership skills? What relationships have you developed with individuals who are different from you?
  • Have you attended and/or or supported events that have increased your awareness of persons of different gender, race, ethnicity, ability, or sexual orientation?
  • How as your perspective about SDSU, your community and/or the world at-large changed as a result of your involvement?
