"Live Well Aztecs Approved”

Here at SDSU, leading an active, engaged and balanced life is not only fun, it’s rewarding! The Live Well Aztecs initiative is a campus wide collaboration that combines many resources in order to promote health, wellness and well-being for students, faculty and staff.

To further promote health and wellness, Live Well Aztecs has teamed up with SDSU Dining to allow making healthier choices easy! Food items labeled, “Live Well Aztecs Approved”, allow you to identify healthier choices such as foods that contain 100% whole grain, have lean protein (including seafood), as well as foods that are a good source of fruits and veggies and low in sodium, added sugars and saturated and trans fats.

 

Some examples include:

  • SUPERFOODS
    • Tuna with Spinach (from the Aztec Market)
      Bring on the superfoods! Tuna is high in protein and rich in omega-3 fatty acids, which may help reduce your risk of heart disease. Spinach is packed with vitamins and minerals to help fight inflammation.
  • LOW CARB
    • Chicken Taco Salad (from the Aztec Market)
      Looking for a low carb option? This salad is low in carbs but high in protein and fiber, to help keep you fuller longer!
  • PROTEIN POWER
    • Chicken and Quinoa Protein Bowl with Black Beans and Greens (from Starbucks)
      This is a perfect lunch option because it is packed with protein, fiber and vegetables to give you lasting energy throughout the day. Not to mention the chicken is antibiotic free!
  • UNDER 500 CALORIES
    • Reduced Fat Turkey Bacon and Cage-Free Egg-White Breakfast (from Starbucks)
      A great grab-and-go breakfast that is less than 500 calories!
